The Tabernacle Was Built
God continued to provide for the Israelites as they traveled to the Promised Land. He supernaturally supplied safety, food, and water...and last week, we learned about the Ten Commandments that God provided to help guide the Israelites and display His perfect holiness. We learned that although God’s rules are meant to help us, we can never keep them all. That is called sin - and sin keeps us away from God. But God already had a perfect plan to help us. God sent His Son, Jesus, to bring us back to Him. Jesus never sinned, so we can trust Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of our sin.
In our lesson this week, we will learn about a very special place that God instructed the Israelites to build. This place was called the tabernacle and means “dwelling place”. God desired to dwell(live) with and be close to His people. However, this tabernacle was only a temporary place for God’s glory to dwell. We learn in John 1:14 that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”. God lovingly sent Jesus to earth to “tabernacle” or dwell with us!
