June 12, 2020

As you know, Indiana is reopening in phases. We are sure that raises some questions for you about how church ministry is affected and when we can gather again for Sunday worship.

For at least the next month, our plan is to continue worshiping together online. The data and recommendations about reopening are still very fluid and we want to move forward slowly to make the best and safest possible decisions.

Digital Ministry

In the meantime, we will continue devoting our energy, attention, and resources toward our other available ministry avenues: our Sunday morning live stream, virtual ministry and resources, providing resources for families, and serving our community. We miss seeing you but are also encouraged to see God at work through praying for one another over the phone, fostering group life through video calls, giving generously, and finding other ways to connect. We commit to you that we will gather again as soon as we can do so in a safe and welcoming way.

What are the guiding principles for how One Fellowship Church plans to meet again on Sunday mornings?

Our elders and staff greatly miss being together for regular ministry and Sunday services. We can’t wait to be back together worshiping with the congregation.

At this time, our plan is to continue worshiping together online. The guiding principles that are informing our decisions and planning are:

  1. Health & Safety
  2. Effectiveness
  3. Phasing
  4. Wisdom

What inputs are we considering in regard to re-opening?

We are monitoring input from state and local officials, as well as internal and external subject-matter experts from a wide variety of perspectives to make the wisest possible decisions regarding plans and timing. We are also learning and preparing plans for effective facility sanitizing procedures and are assessing room capacities in light of social distancing recommendations.

We want to ensure that we are properly equipped and trained to address the complexity involved in opening a church of our size and demographics.

Sunday Night Prayer Meetings

At the same time, we are exploring creative and safe ways for our congregation to engage together beyond in-person worship gatherings. One thing that we will be doing for the next three Sundays is moving our Sunday zoom prayer meeting outdoors on Sunday nights at 5 pm if the weather is permitting.

Starting this coming Sunday, we will have our first outdoor prayer meeting at 5 pm in the back parking lot of the OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA (where we normally have church). These Prayer meetings are open to the public and there is no registration required. We are asking that you do the following:

  • Following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) guidelines regarding hygiene, social distancing, masks, and vulnerable populations.
  • Bring your own chair if you want to sit
  • Wear a mask
  • Use the restroom before you arrive, we will not have access to the building
  • Remain 6-feet social distance with your family the entire time

March 19, 2020

We want to update you and provide additional clarity on how we are planning worship services and ministry events. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging season.

Following the latest guidance from Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), One Fellowship Church will not gather in person but will offer online Sunday morning services until further notice.

In addition, all One Fellowship Church ministry events and meetings are canceled or postponed until further notice. The Congregational Meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2020 will be rescheduled. Our Easter worship service on April 12, 2020 will be online only. The One Fellowship Church offices are closed and the staff is working remotely until further notice.

Sunday Morning Worship Services

Sunday morning worship services will be online at onefellowship.com/sermons

Financial Measures & Giving

Our staff and elders are taking aggressive measures to freeze spending while still focusing on the priorities of: (1) serving people inside and outside our church, and (2) providing for our staff as they minister. Thankfully, our church was in a solid financial position prior to this season.

However, everything we do in ministry is dependent on our collective generosity. Our Benevolence Task Force is able to minister to people because you give.

Online giving is now the main way to support the ongoing ministry of One Fellowship Church. You can give online at onefellowship.com/give. To learn how to give an online gift, please view our Online Giving help article.

Pastoral Care

Our elder and staff teams are developing plans for pastoral care for our people in this season, especially for those in our congregation who are at greatest risk.

For Discipleship groups, Bible studies, and other fellowship, we encourage you to explore other ways to meet via phone or video calls to continue ministering to, encouraging, and praying for one another in the weeks ahead.

We care deeply for those who are already affected by this and are praying for God’s leading and wisdom as we navigate the next few weeks.

March 11, 2020

According to the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) there are now 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indiana, representing seven Indiana counties.

In an abundance of caution and care for the One Fellowship Church family, and with a desire to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in Indiana, One Fellowship Church is canceling all ministry events and meetings (except for Sunday morning worship services, nursery, preschool, elementary, and Student Ministry Small Group) through Sunday, March 29, 2020.

At this time, Sunday morning worship services, nursery, preschool, elementary, and jr. high will continue as normally scheduled, pending further notice.

We are closely monitoring all information and guidance from officials with the ISDH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Please read our March 6 update below to review our increased sanitization protocol. We will prayerfully determine on a day-to-day basis whether further steps are needed and update accordingly.

For Sunday mornings, we caution you to practice the standard, flu-season safety precautions that we are already familiar with, including:

  • Cough etiquette and hygiene
  • Thorough and regular hand washing (particularly after touching your face)
  • Social distancing (limiting physical contact with others)

  2.  People who have serious chronic medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, or lung disease
  3.  Immunosuppressed individuals (people with recent or upcoming surgeries; people on autoimmune treatments, including steroids; people with impaired heart, kidney, or liver function; or people going through cancer treatment)

March 6, 2020

This morning, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) confirmed the first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indiana.  The individual who tested positive has been in self-quarantine after realizing he might have been exposed to the virus. State Health Commissioner Kristina Box, M.D., FACOG said the risk to the general public is low.

We are aware of the situation and continue to closely monitor all information and guidance from officials with the ISDH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Please read our March 5 update below to review the sanitization protocol.

Take Precautions

Again, we caution you to practice the standard, flu-season safety precautions we are already familiar with—including practicing cough etiquette and hygiene, washing your hands thoroughly and regularly, particularly after touching your face, and limiting physical contact with others.

Reduce Risk

Currently, we have decided to continue regular programming at One Fellowship Church, at the same time, we ask you to avoid attending any church activity if any of these conditions are met:

March 6, 2020

In response to growing concern regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), we would like to update you on our planning and precautionary health and safety measures in place at One Fellowship Church.

We are grateful there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Indiana or among the One Fellowship Church congregation. At the same time, your health and safety are important to us, and we care about One Fellowship Church being a place of refuge and a redemptive community.

As we have reviewed information from the Indiana State Department of Healththe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and representatives from within the medical community, we are preparing with the following strategies:

Elevated Sanitization Protocol

As of earlier this week, The OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA has increased its already-thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures. The following precautions are in place for the foreseeable future:

  • They have increased hand sanitizer stations all around the building grounds
  • Communion will be delivered in contained cups and packaged crackers
  • Increased building signage will encourage thorough hand washing
  • All doorknobs, trash cans, and non-porous surfaces will be sanitized frequently with CDC-approved cleaning products

Take Precautions

As is recommended during any flu season, practice the safety precautions we are already familiar with, including practicing cough etiquette and hygiene, washing your hands regularly, particularly after touching your face, and limiting physical contact with others.

Reduce Risk

Currently, we are not canceling any regular programming at One Fellowship Church. However, in an abundance of caution, we ask that you avoid attending church activities if any of these conditions are met:

  1. You have had any flu-like symptoms in the past 7 days such as fever, cough, vomiting, or shortness of breath
  2. You have been in close contact with someone with flu-like symptoms in the past 7 days
